Our customer originally got in contact with us in the week leading up to the easter holidays. They were currently living in a 1 bedroom flat, around the Shad Thames area of London. This is a stunning and surprisingly quiet area of London adjacent to Tower Bridge, that has a series of converted warehouses and dockyards that have been repurposed into accommodation.
They were living on the first floor of one of the converted warehouses, and were going to be moving into a 4 bedroom house in Dulwich that they were in the process of modernising and breathing new life into a property.
Some of the obstacles involved in their move was that when originally moved into the property, their dining table and benches were originally delivered in, through the bay windows in lounge as the stair case and hallways at the property were to narrow for it to be delivered via traditional methods.
We are no strangers to the challenges of unique or restricted access issues, and have in the past removers items such as dining tables, sofas and suites from properties on everything from the 1st floor windows to balconies of 3rd floor apartments.
The key to a success removal of this sort, is to ensure that you are fully prepared to handle the furniture in a professional and diligent manner. To handle this move, we had good access to the exterior bay window, as the building was sat on the roadside without any distance between the exterior walls and the curb.
This access allowed us to pull our Removals truck along side the building beneath the window. following on from this, we then ensure the furniture was properly protected by removals blankets securely. We then raised the tail-lift that is fitted to our Luton van to its highest position underneath the window.
We got ourselves in position inside the flat to be able to carefully lower the table across the balcony ensuring that it will lower smoothly and securely down to the tail-lift.
