Mr Shifter Removals was started by Jim Gray and his partner back in 1982 on Redcar seafront with
his wife, Julie running the office from home.
Jim and his partner broke into the removal world when they were actually working as odd job men
and kept getting requests to remove the odd three piece suite and other small items around the
town.
Jim and his partner then decided to buy an old van and before they knew it Mr Shifter Removals
was born.
After a few years Jim and his partner went their separate ways and Jim decided to carry on solo.
By 1996 Jim had developed the business and was then running three removal vehicles, four staff and
had moved into warehouses in Middlesbrough so that storage facilities could then be offered as an
extra service on top of the removals service.
Jim centralised Mr Shifter Removals so that he could expand the business into the surrounding
areas Stockton, Yarm, Billingham, Darlington, North Yorkshire, Redcar, Whitby, Middlesbrough and Guisbrough.
Where we are now
Mr Shifter Removals & Storage are proud to be members of the (BAR) British Association of
Removers and have been since 1998.
2012 is now the 30 year anniversary of Mr Shifter Removals and storage and the company has gone
from strength to strength. We pride ourselves that Mr Shifter is a well known household name in the
above areas and the majority of our business comes from the personal recommendation of former
satisfied customers.
Jim now runs a fleet of 6 removal vehicles and has 5 secure storage warehouses. We offer Domestic removals, Commercial/Office removals and Overseas/International removals. Local, long distance,
nationwide and overseas/international removals. Full packing service & a part packing service. We can also supply a wide range of packing materials to our clients who wish to pack their own
belongings.
